On a good day I find the world to be a welcoming place, full of smiling faces and cheery greetings. Comments on the weather pass between total strangers in the daily web of social interactions.
As I keep myself apprised of the heartrending events taking place on our small spherical planet orbiting the heavens, it makes me realize that those good days are a treasure amongst trinkets and are not valued enough.
When the countries of the world are at war and the people of that world are dying that should be enough to make at least even the hardest of hearts stop and pause and observe a moment of silence for all that has been lost. It is in that moment, where all life is held equal; in fleeting wish for the tranquility of concord to bring the inner turmoil's our society to a stand still that the greatest change can be effected.
If at least a few people set aside one of the tasks in their bustling lives, one moment out of a thousand, to reflect on all that is happening before our eyes and decide in that instant to resolve within themselves to take the first step to a better life in a healthier world by making the choice to start with themselves and be the best person they know how to be. In a world that learns by example, one kind gesture can translate into a thousand smiles on a good day.
